Brian Dooher’s Retirement

brian dooher

"Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me,
I'm thinking of the days,
I won't forget a single day believe me."

The above lyrics, taken from a song originally sung by the Kinks, seem entirely apt to summarise the feelings of everyone concerned with the club after the recent announcement of Brian Dooher's retirement from County football. His county career began with an Ulster Minor medal in 1993 before he went on to make his mark in the Senior ranks winning 3 All-Irelands (two as captain), 5 Ulster Championships, 2 National Leagues, 3 All Stars, 2 Railway Cups, 1 International Rules Series and 1 Sigerson Cup. His decision brings to an end the County career of arguably the most effective and influential player the County has ever produced. We thank him for all the joy and pride he has bestowed upon us and we look forward to seeing him in the club jersey for years to come.

Captain Fantastic
The club celebrated whole heartedly in the summer of 2005 and again in 2008 when fellow club player Brian Dooher raised aloft the Sam Maguire cup for the second time. It was a very proud day for the county not to mention our club.

Our Recent History
Clann na ngael is the youngest club in Tyrone. The club was founded in 1995 when, the two neighboring clubs (within the parish of Donagheady) Aughabrack and Dunamanagh, amalgamated. Since then they have achieved unprecedented success.

In the club’s short history they have clinched the Double Double in junior and intermediate football in 1997 and 1998 and secured the ACL Division 1B title in October 2002.

At present the club has the luxury of maintaining two grounds and has recently completed the renovation of a £250,000 sports hall, which includes changing and catering facilities. The club also has purchased ground for future development.

Every Summer we host The Craic in the Brack Festival which is the largest Rural festival in Ulster.
